E Ink presents a prototype of a folding e-reader that you can take notes on
It will probably be some time before this technology finds its way into the market. If so, it looks like you’ll get a lot more screen space than a standard e-reader, which could prove especially useful for digital newspapers.
However, as The edge points out, the design here is pretty clunky as it stands. The prototype has massive bezels, and having to turn on the light bars and fold them up for better nighttime reading seems tedious.
The e-reader is however still a work in progress. It has evolved a lot since the last E Ink version revealed in June. If E Ink can make bezels smaller and find a sleek way to build backlit, foldable displays, this could be a winning idea. If that can somehow add color screens to the device too, so much the better.
